so i’ve been trying to justify to myself why it is that i own three different bikes. and i’m not entierly sure i can do it.
there is my 29′er :
I love my bike. even if it’s a size or two to small for me. i’ve got a huge seat post after i bent the stock one, not jumping it or anything, just riding around the yard. so now it looks like an oversized bmx.it’s only got one gear, and i love riding it. it’s currently got platform pedals so i can ride it to work if i happen to be up and awake at 6.
my next bike is a specilized rockhopper? i don’t know really, it cost about the same, ~500 and it’s all worn out. well not so much anymore, but i’ve upgraded it to single speed, but i’m reasonably sure i need a different chain, with the existing one it slips when i’m cranking up hill. but it’s got bigger tires than stock, 2.4 inch. the front shock is shot on it, but it’s still a good ride, or it would be if i happened to put some pedals on it, i took the platforms off of it to put on my 29. but it’s would only take <five min.
my newest bike. and one i haven’t riden just yet:( it’s a folding bike, bought when i new i was going to be working downtown, but didn’t know where. (a block and a half away from the bus stop) so i bought it, and filled the tires up with slime, and then parked it. it’s not really made for my kind of biking, i get the feeling it would shater the first time i jumped it, and if i cranked up a hill it would be irreparable damaged as well. but it’s still kind of nive to beable to have it around, it fits right in the back seat of my car, it only takes a moment to fold it out so it’s ridable. so i’m planning on takeing it durring the conventionm just in case they manage to shut the city down, like i hope they will. i can pretty easyily ride it home, much faster than walking.
the wierd thing about it, i that the one bike that most fits my needs, the folding bike, is the one i don’t really have a use for, save for the convetion, or if i have to stay late at work or for something else. but even so, it’s the one i don’t like riding. it’s also the cheapest, by far. and the most likely to brake. the one i like the most, the 29er, i don’nt even have a spare tube for. it’s only got one set or braze ons (for the bike bottle) it’s not really a paractial bike. and i love it. my 26 inch bike, has everything it needs to be a decent comuter, bike pump, spare tube, tire irons, three sets of braze ons, and i had to go and put giant tires with no connering ablity and a single speed kit on it. and then my folding bike, it’s got a rack, it’s got mudflaps, it’s emitnently practial. and i don’t like it….
